It’s also important to consider that Red Cap Orandas are still goldfish and will eat just about any small fish or invertebrate they can fit in their mouth. However, care should be taken to choose tankmates that will not nip the delicate fins of the Oranda or steal all of their food. Their docile nature makes them great tankmates to other peaceful, freshwater fish. Any food they may miss can be picked up during scavenging later but should not be relied on as their primary source of nutrition. While they enjoy scavenging, it is important that they are fed foods that are easy for them to eat, like floating pellets. Even though they spend most of their day swimming about, Orandas are not particularly good swimmers. Orandas are fast for fancies, especially when young, but they are still much slower moving than non-fancy goldfish varieties. Red Cap Orandas are active, spending their time swimming or scavenging. These fish are hardier than many other fancy varieties of goldfish but do still require closely monitored water parameters and routine monitoring for injuries to the wen. This is what they were They were tagged as molly in the store but online it says platy.A post shared by □□Swedish_Goldfish_Family□□ distinguishing feature of Red Cap Orandas is the brain-like growth on top of the head called a wen. I took the red tailed whatever they are back to the store. Should I just leave him in quarantine? The nice guppy(Dracula) has been with the goldfish all night and he just ignores them. Can I put the guppy back in until pay day when I can get something else or will he try to attack the telescope again? I don't want to go off somewhere and get back to hurt fish. I have had frogs in a tank by themselves that never came out of hiding. Now the frogs look really happy. I just thought the were shy or something. They would come out for air or food and then hide again. The frogs are even coming out and zenning. She's been in there all night and they've been fine. Should I put them all back to the way they were?ĭo you think I should try putting the aggressive guppy back in the goldfish tank after him spending a night in quarantine or will he just attack again? I decided the Betta is going to get the small tank with the frogs. I tried to make the Betta's life better and now everyone's unhappy. What should I do? I didn't know the mollies were aggressive but they and the guppies chase and bite each other constantly. ![]() I don't want to go to bed tonight and wake up with injured or dead goldfish. The one guppy in there isn't really bothering anyone and the mollies don't appear to be but I'm afraid to leave them alone. My question is, will the mollies be aggressive to the goldfish? They were very aggressive toward the Betta. One of the guppies started attacking the telescope's eyes and I put him(the guppy) in the quarantine tank The goldfish is fine but stressed. After a minute and it didn't stop I took them out and put them in with goldfish until I can get new tank. They immediately started chasing and biting her. I rearranged then decoration/hiding spots and put her in. I decided to take a chance and put her in with the guppies and mollies(two male guppies and two red tailed mollies). I had to separate the Betta behind the filter(she stayed there a lot) and feed her because the goldfish ran her off and ate her food. They were good together(after the Betta got used to being there) but feeding time was bad. I recently got a female Betta and had her in my heated fancy goldfish tank.
